About Us
The idea of creating HighGest was born around February, and we began development in November 2010. This idea came from a simple observation: at the time, we had several structures to manage, but no IT tools allowed us to administer them in real-time and simultaneously. As developers, we thought: why not create the tools we needed ourselves?
Initially, we didn’t realize that this 'small project' would eventually evolve into L'Ecovers (at that time, we hadn’t yet named it). The more we progressed with the development, the more we thought, 'Why not add this?' and 'Why not improve that?' Over the months, the idea of L'Ecovers became clearer, and we realized the scale of development needed to bring this ambitious solution to life.
Coming from the old school of development, we began exploring IT and development as early as 1989. Back then, we experienced a free web, where everything was accessible to everyone. We spent nights creating games, websites, and content that we shared for free with the community, often through TOPLISTs or in Underground spaces (WAREZ). It was a time before search engines, where sharing happened directly among enthusiasts.
At that time, being a developer meant contributing to building a world, giving to others without expecting anything in return. We were committed to maintaining a free web where no distinctions were made between users, as everyone used pseudonyms and preserved their anonymity. The spirit of sharing and collaboration was strong, with the sole aim of creating together in an environment open to all.
L'Ecovers was created to allow everyone to enjoy the power of computing without cost constraints.
L'Ecovers doesn’t depend on any third-party system to function. Additionally, there are no investors who could alter its philosophy or objectives.
All data and systems are processed and hosted on L'Ecovers servers and do not leave these servers without your request or authorization.
Our desire to create it was so strong that the decision was made almost instantly: to create a digital universe, L'Ecovers. This project represented a massive workload, extensive research, and colossal development efforts. But we were ready to take it on. At that moment, we knew it would take years, but we couldn’t imagine it would lead us on a journey lasting over 13 years.
A universe where all computing resources are gathered, a universe where everyone can access, create, and use freely.
To achieve this, we had to design L'Ecovers from the ground up with its own source code, independent of any third-party systems. We wrote thousands of lines of code to make it a completely standalone solution.
No investors — the solution had to remain free and independent, relying solely on our own decisions. So we had to finance everything ourselves. Over the last 13 years, several million euros have been invested to create L'Ecovers. Every day, we work to fund the development, servers, hardware, facilities, and much more to keep this ambitious adventure moving forward.
